Job Description
Key responsibilities of an extrusion operator:
Machine setup:
Setting temperature controls, and adjusting feed rates based on product requirements.
Operating machinery:
Monitoring machine gauges, adjusting settings to maintain consistent product quality, and identifying potential issues.
Quality control:
Inspecting extruded products for defects, performing quality tests, and documenting results.
Material handling:
Loading raw materials into the hopper, managing material flow, and removing finished products.
Maintenance:
Performing routine cleaning and lubrication of machinery, identifying and reporting mechanical issues.
Safety compliance:
Adhering to safety procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment, and reporting hazards.
Job Requirements
Skills and qualifications for an extrusion operator:
Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic manufacturing principles
Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and work instructions
Basic math skills for calculations related to material usage and product dimensions
Physical ability to lift and move materials, stand for extended periods
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Read a tape measure
