Manual Machinist
DETAILS
1st Shift Monday – Friday | Pay Range: $26 – $36
Location: Sun Prairie, WI
About the Manual Machinist role
– Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools with limited supervision.
– Perform complex machine setups and critical operations, subject to review.
– Program machines to perform machining work.
– Position and secure the work piece in the machine.
– Position tools to the workpiece.
– Operate various hand tools, power hand tools, and manual machine tools to make finish adjustments to products.
– Use a variety of precision measuring devices to set up and adjust work and verify conformance of work to specifications.
– Examine and feel the surface of the piece for defects.
– Sharpen cutting tools as needed.
– Troubleshoot operating, material, and tooling problems.
– Perform general preventive maintenance work on tools and equipment.
– Guide assisting personnel on correct procedures.
– Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes completed.
– Provide basic assembly of mechanical & electrical components as required
– Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
– Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.
– Train other machinists on various machines.
– Assist in the decision-making process of future machine and tooling purchases.
– Maintenance and repair of machines.
– Order shop supplies and material stock
– Assist with quoting jobs
– Ability to perform basic welding noncertified
Job Requirements
– Requires education generally equivalent to an Associate’s Degree.
– Requires one to three years of skilled trades training in machine tool operations plus one to two years of related experience.
– Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and perform geometric algebraic and trigonometric calculations.
– Must perform metric conversions.
– Requires good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.
– Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routing.
– Preferred areas include:
– AWS welding certifications
– Experience working in a production manufacturing environment
